PHOTOGRAPHIC ORGANISATIONS
Scottish Photographic Circle

Founded in 1907  by a group of enthusiastic artists.
They held an  historic meeting at which it was agreed that a Society be formed to promote Pictorial Photography in Scotland by means of lectures and discussions on the Art of Photography.
This year the Circle celebrated its Centenary with a range of exhibitions showing members work.

Most of the best photographers in Scotland have been members at some time or other, and most of the current members are well known as lecturers and judges.

SCOTTISH PHOTOGRAPHIC FEDERATION

Almost all Camera Clubs and Photographic Societies in Scotland are Members of the S.P.F.  It represents their interests within the U.K. and also within Europe. It arranges National Championships for the Clubs and also for their individual Members, and hosts a Major International Salon.

EAST KILBRIDE CAMERA CLUB

The Town of East Kilbride, was founded in the early 1950s, and is now a substantial size, with a very vibrant economy.  It is situated to the South East of Glasgow.

KILMAURS CAMERA CLUB This Club must be rated as one of the better clubs in Ayrshire, and  there is always a strong rivalry with Ayr P.S. (most of the time fairly good natured).
Paisley Colour Photographic Club One of the larger and more important clubs in Scotland.  They were initially for Colour Slides only, but since the advent of Digital, some Prints are now being produced.
MIDLOTHIAN CAMERA CLUB Quite a go-ahead Club, with some novel ideas.

INDIVIDUAL PHOTOGRAPHERS

ROY's PHOTO BOX

A collection of Photographs by Roy Gibson, who is a highly talented photographer, (what else would I say).  He is a member of Ayr P.S. and the Scottish Photographic Circle.

Graeme Pollock
Graeme is a local Ayrshire Photographer, and member of A.P.S., who has found success over the past three years winning prestigious photographic competitions.  He specializes in landscapes but also captures people and sports. He showcases his work through his website and his wife's Physical Therapy Clinic at 17 Wellington Square, Ayr.
Kenny Cruickshank Another talented Ayr P.S. member.   He is a Semi-Pro Photographer, specialising in Wedding, Portrait, Motor Sport and Industrial Photography.
Mark McColl Mark is an A.P.S. member, and a very good photographer. He has had his site since 2006, and  it is receiving a lot of hits, which comes as no surprise to the rest of the membership.
di4 This is a Digital Group which is part of  United Photographic Postfolios. 3 of our Members - Anne & Chris Stobbs & Steve Weideger - submit work to this group on a regular basis. There should always be some good new pictures on show.

STEPHEN LIPTON

Stephen is a member of East Kilbride Camera Club, and has constructed this website for himself.  Portraiture is one of his favourite subjects.

TOM BELL

This site belongs to Tom Bell, another member of the Scottish Photographic Circle and also Cumbernauld C.C.  It includes a variety of pictures, many of which have been digitally manipulated, and some stunning landscapes.

JOHN CARROLL

John has more than one site, and his specialty is Scottish Landscapes. He has Prints available for sale.

PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUE  SITES
PHOTO ACTIVE

One-to-one photography courses in SW Scotland with former Sunday Times travel photographer Philip Dunn.

He also has a Blog-site at  http://www.philipdunn.blogger.com

JANEE An interesting, and different site, with lots of info on Graphics as well as Photoshop, and some good Tutorials.
COMPUTER DARKROOM This Site is run by Ian Lyons. It is full of very useful information, especially about Photoshop and Epson Printers, although a wide range of subjects are covered. The Tutorials are very thorough.
IMAGING RESOURCE

This site has very in-depth reviews of all types of Digital Photographic Equipment, including Cameras, Scanners and Printers. Even better, there are Forum sections where actual users give their opinions, point out omissions by the reviewers, and ask questions.

It can take some time to download the pages, because they are very content rich. Some of the reviews will run to 70 pages if printed out.

SCANTIPS

Advice on Scanning and Scanners.  But also good and clear explanations on Pixels, Resolution and other difficult to understand subjects.
KEN  ROCKWELL Lots of advice on, and reviews of, Cameras and Lenses, plus some very interesting articles.  All of which are based on his own experiences,  he does not try too hard to remain unbiased.
FRED MIRANDA Many "How to do it Articles" and Equipment Review Forums by actual users. Especially good on lenses.
CLARKVISION Website by Roger Clark (not Cumnock). Lots of superb pictures and articles.

If you want to ask any questions about Photoshop, or you want to read answers to other peoples questions, then visit these News Groups.

They are inhabited by loads of experts, (including professionals), some semi experts, and some total dumdums.

rec.photo.digital

A very active News Group for everything about Digital Photography, (Hardware, Software, etc).

There are also News Groups for Printers, Scanners and Ps Elements. Posting of Pictures is NOT allowed on any of the above Groups.

U.K. Photographers Rights

This will provide a downloadable, 2 page, PDF document which explains the legal position for photographers in the U.K. about what they may or may not photograph, and from where.  There is also a forum where you may ask questions.

The document is written, and the answers are provided by a keen Amateur Photographer, who's day job is a Lecturer in Law at Heriot Watt University.
