The Screen Shots and Dialogue Boxes shown here are from Microsoft Outlook, which is the Email Program I use. Other Programs will be slightly different, but the principles are very similar.
1. Before attempting to send a Picture, Check its File size. The larger the File, the longer it will take to send, and to be downloaded by the recipient. Not everyone is prepared to wait while an Email message takes 15 minutes to download.
2. Go to where the File is Saved. Right Click on its Icon. See below.
3. A Little Menu will appear. Left Click on "Properties", and a Box will appear. See below.
4. At "1" you will see the File Size, this one is 51.4 KB, and would be Ok to send. anything between 50K and 100K will be fine.
5. At "2" you will see the File Type, only Jpeg or Gif Image Types are suitable for Web use. If the wrong File Type shows, open the picture in Photoshop and Save it as a Jpeg.
6. At "3" Ensure the "Read Only" Box is Unticked.
7. Click OK, and close all Windows.

Now you are ready to open your Email program.
1. Do that in the normal way, open a New Message, Address it to the Recipient, Type any Message.
2. Then Click on the "Paper-Clip" Symbol at the Top, or on "Insert".
If you get a choice of "File" or "Image", for sending, choose "File".
See Below
3. And the "Insert" Box will appear.
See below.
4. Navigate to where you have Saved the File you want to send.
5. Point at the Icon for the Picture you want to send, at "1" Click to select it. Then Click on "Insert" , at "2".
( It is not really a good idea to save Pictures you will be sending in your usual "My Pictures" Folder, it is all too easy to select the Full Size version of the picture. Put them in a Folder of their own.)
Your Message Window will reappear. See below.
6. There will be an Icon for the Picture File, at the bottom of the Message, at "1", OR its Title may appear in a New "Insert" Box, below the "Subject Box", at about "2".
7. Now Just Send the message in the usual way.
